Aashto I Beam
AASHTO I Beams are precast prestressed concrete girders used to support decks and traffic loads in bridge superstructure construction. The I shape of these kind or beams allow it to allocate the prestress strands at the bottom bulb to sustain the design loads. The top bulb can carry the precast concrete panels between beams used as form work for the cast in place bridge deck that will form the bridge superstructure.
Due to the durability, quality production, cost reduction, and low maintenance, I beams are greatly used in the mid range span bridges.
Actually there are six different types of I beams that SEPSA produces, and are define as: Type I (28” deep), Type II (36” deep), Type III (45” deep), Type IV (53” deep), Type V (63” deep), and Type VI (72” deep). According to the span length and loads applied, is the number of beams and type that are required. Our engineering department will design the best solution for each particular project.
