Nebraska UN Beams
The large majority of short to medium span bridge systems in the highway infrastructure are constructed of composite beam/slab system. Most of the bridge beams are constructed of precast prestressed concrete structural beams. The NU beams were developed in the University of Nebraska, and have a wide top flange that can be reinforced for continuous span bridges and a bottom bulb to allocate the prestressing strands. They are also known as bulb-tees.
UN beams are used in the construction of highway and urban bridges that require long spans and great load capacity.
